COTABATO CITY – Two police officers were killed in a shootout with drug suspects in an anti-illegal drugs operation in Barangay Crossing Simuay in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte before noon Friday.

Lt. Col. Jopy Ventura, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO-BARMM), identified the slain police officers as Corporal Kirt Siin and Patrolwoman Roselyn Bulias, both of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG).

Wounded were Patrolmen Jonel Ramos and Eddie Sugarol, also of the PDEG.

Ventura said two of the suspects were also wounded –  Sohud Kasim and Ting Katulangan.

The wounded suspects are under heavy guard at a hospital.

They yielded about a kilo of shabu with an estimated value of P6.8 million.

Ventura said a manhunt is ongoing against two other suspects who eluded arrest.
